Experience the inherently therapeutic nature of screen printing in an empowering, supportive and fun environment!
In partnership with the Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center and the Santa Barbara Arts Collaborative, printmakers and teaching artists Claudia Borfiga, Bay Hallowell, Meagan Stirling, and Sara Woodburn are conducting a series of printmaking workshops with sexual assault survivors and loved ones as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April. Each printmaker brings years of experience in printmaking, teaching, and community engagement to the project. The workshops will provide an opportunity for support, creative expression, and empowerment. The workshops will culminate with a public exhibition of screen-printed banners and community dialogues on sexual assault.

Art Workshops and Exhibitions During Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Come join our workshops and learn how to screen print! After a short introduction, we will guide you through making your own design and turning it into a flag. Snacks will be provided!
Each workshop is limited to 8 participants, but multiple dates are available. No previous art experience is necessary. Participants must be 18 years or older and must pre-register to attend. Your registration will be confirmed by one of the artists prior to each workshop. PLEASE NOTE: Your personal information is confidential and will not be shared. We will not ask you to share your personal story.
Artwork created in the workshops will be displayed anonymously in a group exhibition at The Community Arts Workshop, April 27 - 29, 2018. Participants may take their flags home at the end of the exhibition or donate them to the organizers.

Print Power is a collective of teaching artists who empower people of all ages through printmaking. Together, we can use the power of print to change the culture. While we work closely with the SBRCC and other community groups, we are not art therapists or counselors.
Print Power is a project of the Santa Barbara Arts Collaborative Arts Residency Program at the Community Arts Workshop. Funding for the program was provided by the Santa Barbara Foundation. More information about the residency program can be found at sbcaw.org/residency.
